What is BioLaunch611+?
BioLaunch611+ is a Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) that provides support to early-stage life sciences companies operating in Bucks and Montgomery counties south of Route 202 and in Philadelphia County north of Girard Avenue.
What is a KIZ?
A KIZ is a public-private partnership that brings together academic institutions, investors, business support organizations, and local businesses to promote and support entrepreneurial activity.
KIZs operate within defined geographic areas around college and university campuses. There are 29 KIZs in Pennsylvania, each of which receives an annual operating grant from the State. A KIZ is required to match its state funding on a 1:1 basis.
What Services does BioLaunch611+ Provide?
The BioLaunch611+ KIZ is now part of BioStrategy Partners (BioSP), a nonprofit organization that provides a continuum of services and infrastructure to young life sciences companies, enabling them to thrive in the Greater Philadelphia region.
The combined resources of BioSP and the BioLaunch611+ KIZ give young companies access to a superior range of services to enable them to survive the critical early stages of development. These services include:
- Academic—access to scientists and academic institutions
- Financial—a mini-grant program and grant writing assistance
- Business—business introductions, mentoring, free advice from due diligence panels, and access to a network of service providers
- Workforce—workforce development programs and subsidized interns
- Economic Development—including tax credits, access to state grants, loan programs, facilities advice, and real estate development
